What is Orthomolecular Medicine (OM)?

" Orthomolecular medicine is the maintenance of good health and the treatment of disease by altering the concentration in the human body of substances normally present in the body and necessary for health."

( Biochemist and 2x Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling , founder of OM, Science 1968).

Therapy with Orthomolecular Medicine (OM)

Orthomolecular Medicine (OM) has increasingly developed in recent years as a bridge between conventional and complementary medicine. This growth is not only due to the increasing interest of the public but also to the growing experience and knowledge about the importance of targeted administration of orthomolecular substances in daily medical practice. Thus, orthomolecular substances find their applications in many medical specialties.

The OM training corresponds to a specialized diploma recognized by the Austrian Medical Chamber.

OM uses micronutrients for the prevention and therapy of diseases. Micronutrients include vitamins, trace elements, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and so-called secondary plant substances.

Bioidentical hormone therapy is also an important component of OM.

As the name suggests, Orthomolecular Medicine employs the right molecules in the right doses. (Greek: "orthos" = correct, and Latin: "molecula" = molecules).

First measure, then eat...

As with all substances, the dose makes the poison. Patients often find themselves in a belief war between the unilateral representations ("vitamin lie") of the billion-dollar pharmaceutical industry about the ineffectiveness of dietary supplements (NEM), and the sometimes baseless promises of the billion-dollar dietary supplement industry.

There are numerous effects of OM well-documented in studies, which, however, receive little attention due to a lack of sensationalism.

OM is applied biochemistry

OM is based on strictly scientific, medical and biochemical principles. The substitution of magnesium, iron , B vitamins, folic acid or vitamin D is an everyday routine in medical practice.

The effectiveness/ineffectiveness of NEM has been proven in numerous placebo-controlled, randomized double-blind studies.

Therefore, advice and therapy from an expert with appropriate training who informs you about the sense/nonsense of NEM, about the right products, in the right dosage, is very effective.

This allows you to seize opportunities for prevention and therapy and avoid unnecessary therapies (including costs).

OM can be a crucial prerequisite for good health and the treatment of disease, but should not be misunderstood as a panacea for all diseases.

OM is neither an opponent nor a replacement for conventional medicine; the strengths of both disciplines often come into play, especially when they interact.
